What services does your office provide?

We provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapy referrals, and treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and more.

Do you offer in-person and telehealth appointments?

Yes, we offer both in-person and telehealth appointments for your convenience.

Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist?

We do not require a referral to schedule an appointment. However, your insurance company may require this for payment. We recommend to check with your insurance company.

New Patient FAQ

What forms do I need to complete before my first appointment?

You will need to fill out a new patient application, consent forms, and a medical history questionnaire. These must be completed online before your first appointment. Your appointment may be cancelled if this is not completed at least 48 hours before your appointment.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring a valid photo ID, insurance card (if applicable), a list of current medications, and any previous medical or psychiatric records.

Do you accept new patients with insurance or self-pay only?

We are currently only accepting self-pay patients. We are in the process of credentialing with insurance companies and hope to accept all insurances soon.

How long does it take to get an appointment as a new patient?

New patient appointments are typically scheduled within one week. Availability may vary.

Scheduling & Appointments FAQ

How do I schedule an appointment?

Appointments can be scheduled by calling our office, completing a new patient application, or through our patient portal for existing patients.

Can I book, reschedule, or cancel my appointment online?

Yes, you can manage your appointments online through our patient portal. If you need assistance, call our office.

What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

We require at least 24 hour notice for cancellations. No-shows are subject to a $100 fee, and late cancellations are subject to a $50 fee.

How long are appointments?

Initial psychiatric evaluations are typically an hour long, and follow-up medication management appointments are between 15 and 25 minutes long.

Do you offer same-day or emergency appointments?

We do our best to accommodate urgent requests but do not offer emergency psychiatric care. If you are in crisis, please seek immediate help.

Medications & Prescriptions FAQ

How do I request a medication refill?

Medication refill requests should be submitted through your patient portal.

Do not have the pharmacy request a refill from us. Pharmacy refill requests are discarded.

How long does it take for my prescription refill request to be processed?

Please request refills a week before you run out. Refill requests are usually processed the same day or next, but may take 3 business days.

Can you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes, we prescribe controlled substances when medically necessary. However, strict policies apply, including regular follow-ups and compliance with state regulations.

What should I do if I experience side effects from my medication?

If you experience mild side but tolerable side effects, it can be discussed in the next planned follow up visits. If it is more problematic or worrisome, contact us through the portal. Depending on severity, or if a change in plan is needed, the issue may be discussed in an appointment. If you experience severe side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

How do I transfer my prescriptions to a new pharmacy?

Ask your new pharmacy to contact your previous one, or request a transfer through our office.

Do you offer self-pay?

Yes, we offer self-pay options. Please check our rates page for a list of prices.

What insurance plans do you accept?

At this time, we are accepting self-pay patients only. We are actively working on becoming credentialed with all major insurance carriers and will update this page as soon as we’re in-network.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit card, debit card, and checks. We do not accept cash.

Do you require payment at the time of service?

Yes, all fees must be paid at the time of service.

Can I set up a payment plan for my treatment?

How long does a psychiatric evaluation take?

A typical evaluation lasts between , depending on the complexity of your concerns.

What should I bring to my evaluation?

Please bring a list of medications, medical history, previous mental health records (if available), and any notes about your symptoms.

Will I receive a diagnosis during my first visit?

In many cases, yes. However, complex conditions may require additional follow-up sessions for a full assessment.

Do you prescribe medication after the evaluation?

If medication is part of your recommended treatment plan, our provider will discuss options with you and prescribe if appropriate.

Can I have my evaluation online?

Yes! We offer telehealth psychiatric evaluations for patients who prefer virtual appointments.

Is my psychiatric evaluation confidential?

Absolutely. Your privacy is our priority, and all evaluations comply with HIPAA regulations.

What happens after my evaluation?

Based on our findings, we will create a customized treatment plan and schedule follow-up care as needed.

Medication Management FAQ

How long does it take for medication to work?

Most psychiatric medications take 2 to 6 weeks to reach full effectiveness, though improvements can be noticed earlier.

What if I experience side effects?

We closely monitor your response to medication and adjust dosages or switch prescriptions if necessary to minimize side effects.

Can I stop taking my medication if I feel better?

No. Stopping medication abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms or relapse. Always consult with your provider before making changes.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

Can I do my medication management appointments virtually?

Patient Policies FAQ

What is your policy on confidentiality and privacy?

We follow HIPAA regulations to ensure your information remains private and confidential.

Can you provide documentation for school or work?

If it is medically appropriate, we may do paperwork in appointments.

Can you provide documentation for disability claims?

Typically, we believe being engaged in work is helpful, even if is stressful. We can discuss short term, limited disability, or accommodations.

Do you offer psychiatric evaluations for legal or court-related purposes?

No, we do not provide forensic psychiatric evaluations for legal cases.

What happens if I am late for my appointment?

We do our best to maintain the scheduled time of appointment. We do not want to delay the appointment time subsequent patients because an earlier patient was not able to make it to the appointment in time. If you are more than 10 minutes late, it is considered a no snow, and you may need to reschedule, and a late fee of $100 may apply.

Can I bring a family member or friend to my appointment?

Yes, but in most circumstances we expect the patient to be the main source of information, and the guest may be asked to leave at certain parts of the appointment.

What is your policy on medical records, and how can I request them?

You can request medical records by completing a release form.

Telemedicine FAQ

What is doxy.me and why are you using it?

Doxy.me is a HIPAA compliant platform that enables healthcare providers to remotely connect to their patients to conduct an appointment with videoconferencing, which means both audio and video. We are using this solution because it was the easiest for our patients to set up and use.

Do I need special software or equipment for a telehealth session?

No, you only need a device with a camera, microphone, and stable internet connection.

Can you prescribe medications through telemedicine?

Yes. Most psychiatric medications, including antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and mood stabilizers, can be prescribed and sent electronically to your pharmacy. If controlled medications are necessary, I will discuss options and requirements with you.

Can I do my first psychiatric evaluation virtually?

Yes. Initial evaluations, medication management, and follow-ups can all be done via telemedicine.

What if I need or want an in-office appointment?

Not a problem! You can choose an in-office appointment to ensure you receive the best possible care.

What happens if I have technical issues during a telehealth appointment?

If technical issues arise, contact our office. We will attempt to help you or provide alternative options. In some cases, your appointment will need to be rescheduled if you are unable to connect.

Crisis & Emergency Situations FAQ

What should I do if I’m in a mental health crisis?

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Do you offer after-hours or emergency psychiatric care?

No, we do not provide after-hours emergency services. Please seek immediate help at an ER or crisis center.

Can I contact my provider outside of business hours?

For urgent matters, please call 911. Otherwise, leave a message, and we will respond during business hours.

Should I go to the ER if I have an urgent mental health concern?

Yes, if you are experiencing a crisis, including suicidal thoughts, severe distress, or hallucinations, seek emergency care.
